Intended for firearm owners who want to improve upon the basic skills of firearm handling, this course develops practical defensive abilities including drawing efficiently from concealment, shooting while moving, engaging multiple targets, shooting from cover, and making sound decisions when it matters most.
Building on the fundamentals established in Basic Firearms Proficiency, each session increases complexity while maintaining the safe handling habits that must remain constant regardless of stress. Through realistic scenario work, you’ll experience the mental and physical challenges of defensive shooting in a controlled environment, preparing you to respond effectively if the worst should ever happen.
By course completion, students will be able to demonstrate:
- Consistent draw from concealment to first hit in under 2.5 seconds at 7 metres
- Ability to clear garments reliably under various conditions
- Accurate shooting while moving laterally
- Smooth target transitions with no overshooting
- Efficient emergency and tactical reloads
- Stable shooting from both sides of cover
- Adequate one-handed shooting with both hands
- Sound shoot/no-shoot decision-making under pressure
- Continued safe handling in dynamic, stressful situations
